Mosaic Selector Web

Mosaic panels are designed to be viewed in full browser windows (F11 activated). The panels have not been purposely locked in tables or other display means so that small monitor/resolution configurations could still display the panel images individually without large horizontal moves. There are two scale sizes: Small, designed for 1024 x 768 monitor resolutions, full browser window, and Large, designed for monitors of 20" or larger with at least 1600x1000 resolution. Small monitors able to be set to high resolutions will display the large mosaics, but the information may not be clearly interpretable.

Multiple monitor users can open multiple panel displays by clicking on Mosaics in the selector bar for as many screens (or tabs, depending on browser settings) as you want up, then select the product you wish to display in each Windows screen.

Target Area mosaics update on the frequency of the scanning radar site, but may not generally be populated during quiet weather due to bandwidth considerations, since, at peak operation, up to 22 mosaic product fills are sent every few minutes to the host server, in addition to our regular up/down load! The US National mosaics update on an hourly basis for most. General Analysis I, large and small, and the US National series will normally be available unless there is no active weather expected for some time. The green status line below will indicate what panels are currently being populated.

(Note: an interesting observation - it seems the browsers will populate an offline panel with any active image of the series, eg for Base Reflectivity, the BR panel will populate with all BR1 (.05 deg) images if BR1 is online! So, if all of the images in a panel are the same, you can be sure the panel is off-line...lol!)

Note: due to bandwidth conditions, the Base Velocity panel may only be online during pronounced wind storms. General Analysis I always reports the .5 degree tilt for Base Velocity. Generally, Storm Relative Velocity provides more useful storm information within the air column.
